Picture of the Day: Mount St. Helens

It’s a bit of a drive out to the Johnston Ridge Observatory to view Mount St. Helens up close, but it was worth it. I do not think you can appreciate the power of the 1980 eruption without seeing the volcano up close.

One of the facts that most amazed me was that the volcano was 9677 feet high before the eruption and 8364 feet after. That’s a lot of rock just gone. I hope you enjoy the pictures and get to visit yourself someday. rk
