Friday Favorites: Christmas at the Magic Kingdom

Actually Disney is my favorite all year long, not just at Christmas. The Disney folks sure know how to make a magical experience. I hope the video gives you a taste of the scene there on Main Street USA. rk

Friday Favorites: Roosevelt Elk and Other National Park Wildlife

One of my favorite parts about visiting National Parks is the opportunity to see wildlife up close in its natural habitat.

This video is of a Roosevelt Elk that blocked my path in Olympic National Park. It came right down the trail towards me and then stopped to munch right off the trail.

Probably my favorite wildlife experience was in El Malpais National Monument in New Mexico where I was driving my Jeep down a dirt road while a herd of Pronghorn Antelope ran alongside me at 40ish mph for several minutes. It was exhilarating. rk

Friday Favorites: Petrified Forest National Park

One of the places I always wanted to visit as a dinosaur-enthused child was Petrified Forest National Park.   It was always referenced in the dinosaur books that I would read.   I was able visit this National Park and I really enjoyed seeing the petrified trees and how they differed from how I imagined them as a child.

I hope you enjoyed the video and I hope it has inspired you to visit this wonderful National Park.   rk

Friday Favorites:  The Grinnell Glacier Overlook in Glacier National Park

As part of my series of favorite places, another would be the Grinnell Glacier Overlook.  To get here you must either traverse the majority of the Highline Trail from Logan Pass or up the steep Loop Trail to access the Highline at the Granite Park Chalet.  Either way it’s a healthy hike just to the very steep Grinnell Glacier Overlook Trail.

Having said that, at the summit it feels like you are on top of the world as you look down upon the Grinnell Glacier and the ice floes in the alpine lake caused by its snowmelt.   I hope you enjoy this video and can also feel the exhilaration of being on top of the world.
